Approaching the future with a sense of responsibility

We are convinced that corporate social responsibility (CSR) is a prerequisite for our long-term business success and for the future performance of the HORNBACH Group.

We base our business activities across the Group on the HORNBACH Values. Or just that: In working together at HORNBACH, we also build on our HORNBACH Foundation.

“We are guided by the virtues of the honourable businessman: fairness, integrity, honesty and reliability. These virtues create trust in HORNBACH and enables us to create value in the long term. That may sound a bit old-fashioned, but it still applies today. For us, this is the core of sustainability.”

A matter of decency

As one of the key drivers and sponsors of the issues involved, Albrecht Hornbach (Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of HORNBACH Management AG) and Susanne Jäger (member of the Board of Management of HORNBACH Baumarkt AG) are the points of contact when it comes to sustainability at the HORNBACH Group. For these two, economic efficiency, environmental awareness, and a commitment to society are not mutually exclusive, but rather complementary objectives.

Take a stance to shape developments

Awareness and information – two concepts on which Erich Harsch, CEO of HORNBACH Baumarkt AG, bases his understanding of sustainability. Companies have a responsibility to offer sensible and sustainable solutions for their customers. Ultimately, customers decide which solutions best meet their needs.

Our CSR-Guidelines

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a fundamental question of principle for HORNBACH and thus forms part of our business strategy. It has a major influence on the way we manage our company. We aim to make decisions that account for all aspects of sustainability. In doing so, we are guided by the question of what is important for people and their future in harmony with sustainably oriented corporate development.

“If people understand interrelationships better, they can also make more sustainable decisions in terms of ecological and economic responsibility.”

Within our corporate organisation, we divide the sustainability topics into four fields of action:

  • Our product range is where we have the greatest leverage – origin, production, components of our products
  • Help and disposal – product range-related services
  • Content employees for satisfied customers
  • Conserving resources in our own business operations

Our CSR Guidelines summarise the overriding sustainability issues we work on with heart and soul.
